Flu Vaccine Update
We would like to thank all of you for your patience while we have waited for further information with regards to the flu vaccine delivery.
We are pleased to announce that we have started to invite patients between the ages of 18 - 50 years-old who are classed as 'at risk' for their flu vaccinations, as well as children between the ages of 2 - 3 years-old, and those under 18 years-old who are 'at risk'.
If you receive an invite, please be sure to book in for a vaccination in order to protect yourself and your loved ones.
When attending, please wear a face covering. The practice car park will also be reserved for those with limited mobility only.
Unfortunately, there is still a national delay in the delivery of over 65 year-olds flu vaccines. As soon as we have more information regarding this, we will share it with you.
LIMITED BLOOD TEST APPOINTMENT AVAILABILITY
Due to a national shortage of blood bottles in the UK, we have been advised by the NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to significantly reduce the amount of blood test appointments we can offer patients as soon as possible.
Until further notice, we will only be able to conduct blood tests in clinically urgent circumstances. The Local Medical Council (LMC) have listed these as:
- Blood tests that are required to facilitate a two week wait referral
- Blood tests that are extremely overdue and/or essential for safe prescribing of medication or monitoring of condition
- Bloods that, if taken, could avoid a hospital admission or prevent an onward referral
- Those with suspected sepsis or conditions with a risk of death or disability.
Some patients may be contacted by Coleridge Medical Centre within the next few days to rearrange their blood tests.
We understand that this can be incredibly frustrating, but please try to remember that this situation is out of our hands, and it is not through any fault of our reception staff, nurses or GPs.

Update to our Online eConsultation Service
eConsults can be submitted between 8:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
If you have an URGENT problem outside of these hours, please dial 1-1-1 for the NHS 111 Service.
In an EMERGENCY, please dial 999.
If you had your 1st Pfizer COVID vaccination before the 27th of February 2021, or your 1st Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination at the practice before the 27th of March, and are yet to receive your 2nd vaccination, you will now be required to contact the National Booking Service to arrange your appointment. At Coleridge Medical Centre we have now come to the end of our allocation to be able to offer 2nd doses of the Pfizer vaccination and the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination, and we will no longer be contacting patients to make an appointment for them.
Please do not worry! If you are due your 2nd Pfizer vaccination or 2nd Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination, and you were unable to attend the dates we had offered, please contact either the National Booking Service online or by dialling 119, who will assist you in getting an appointment at one of the Mass Vaccination sites.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status
From 17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of any approved vaccine. Vaccine status will be available from:
the NHS App which you can download from app stores
It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified so you can use this service.
If you cannot access this online service, and you have had 2 vaccines, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel abroad in the near future and have had your second dose more than 5 working days ago. It may take 7 working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status.
When you're planning your travel, check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is time to get proof of your vaccination status before you leave.

We are a friendly and welcoming GP practice located in the historic market town of Ottery St Mary. We look after approximately 16,000 patients who live in Ottery and the surrounding villages.
We are open Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). You can speak to a Patient Services Adviser on the telephone between 08:30 to 13:30 and 14:00 to 18:00. For face to face enquiries you can call in between 08:00 and 18:30.

Ottery St Mary Medical Trust Fund
Established in 1990, the Ottery St Mary Medical Trust has enabled the Coleridge Medical Centre to remain at the cutting edge of general medical practice.
As the demands on the NHS increase, the generosity of those who have donated to, fundraised for, or left a gift in their will to the Trust, has enabled the GP Partners at the Medical Centre to enhance the care provided to our patients. The Trust has invested the funds received in equipment and services which otherwise would not have been funded by the NHS.
The gifts the Trust receives are an acknowledgement of the care the practice delivers to the community. It is, therefore, fitting that the funds help us provide an even better service for Ottery St Mary and the surrounding villages.
The GP Partners, as Trustees, welcome and will consider all requests and suggestions for purchases that will benefit patients and users of the Medical Centre. The Trust is regulated by the Charity Commission and all purchases must meet the criteria set out in the Trust Deed.
